Cereal

Who'd have thought it! You can actually get cereal.

On Sainsbury's website - they have a list on there of all the gluten free foods they do in their store - and although some of their non wheat based cereal contains a small amount of barley - it is within the codex alimentus guidelines for being able to state it is gluten free because there is barely any in it.

If you are gluten free but ok with Oats - Jordans granola has oats in but not any of the wheat dustings that we are concerned about when it comes to oats. I have been eating it and found it to be ok, but this is my experience - try at own risk, but I am ok with it which is amazing.

If you like your american cereal as a treat at times - Lucky Charms are made from oats - no wheat or barley etc in them. CHEX do lots of gluten free cereals - some to mimic wheat based, others that are rice chex etc. These are quite delicious as they come in all sorts of flavours. Reeces Puffs for those peanut butter lovers - are gluten free!!!!! A joy for me as I love peanut butter.

Also - having spoken with kelloggs - the only reason their non wheat based cereal can no longer be classed as gluten free is due to last years change in the levels which state gluten free - coeliacs everywhere used to be able to enjoy them until these changed - if your gluten intolerant, I can't see a reason why a bowl of coco pops or corn flakes wouldn't be ok for you, I have a severe gluten intolerance but find that these are ok for me.

Hope this helps
